Fried Cheese Curds

A fun favorite, these Fried Cheese Curds are a tasty appetizer or side dish recipe that is ooey gooey on the inside and crispy on the outside.



Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 tablespoon whole milk

  • 2 cups Italian Style Breadcrumbs

  • 16 ounces cheese curds

  • vegetable oil for frying

Direction:

  1. Combine flour and salt in a shallow bowl.

  2. Stir to the salt is incorporated evenly.

  3. Break eggs into a second shallow bowl with 1 tablespoon of milk.

  4. Beat the eggs.

  5. Place breadcrumbs into the third bowl.

  6. Coat the curds with flour, egg, and bread crumbs.

  7. It is very important to coat the cheese curds evenly and thoroughly.

  8. Place coated curds on a wire rack resting on a rimmed baking sheet.

  9. Freeze the cheese curds for 30 to 60 minutes.

  10. Set up another wire rack on a baking sheet or line a plate with paper towels.

  11. Pour enough oil into a large skillet or a pot to reach about 2 inches of oil.

  12. Heat the oil over medium-high heat.

  13. Use a thermometer to make sure the temperature is 375 degrees.

  14. Frying a few curds at a time, carefully drop a few in at a time.

  15. Do not crowd the skillet.

  16. Fry for about 1 minute, turning them once.

  17. Cook until they are golden brown.

  18. Remove with a slotted spoon.

  19. Enjoy immediately.
